There is a knack to programming a venue. It’s not just a matter of putting on a band and treating each night in isolation. A programme for a venue has to take into account the club itself and the patrons, be they members, regulars or tourists. There needs to be a pattern to the bookings – light and shade, style and price all come into it. All Blue Music has two of the most experienced jazz and related music bookers in the world. Simon ran and booked Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club for 13 years, while Joe governed the programme at the PizzaExpress Live venues for more than a decade. Festivals need and want to appeal to a broad spectrum of the public, something we do through intelligent programming of artists and events and even the catering.
